21 October 2009 Pain management education ‘inadequate’
Survey results released this week reveal that a distinct lack of time is being dedicated to educating healthcare students on pain and how best to manage it in their patients.
 
19 October 2009 Malaysian Government funds Nurse Tutor visit
Six Malaysian Tutors completed a three week study programme with the School this autumn.

15 Sep 2009 Nursing Standard article. (Nursing Standard Volume 24 No.1, September 9th to 15th, pages 22 and 23).
 
Two Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery students, Angelina Kennedy and Greg Hext, went on a U.S nursing exchange last year and talk about their experiences in the Nursing Standard this week. The exchange programme has enabled students from the UK and the United States to evaluate each other's nursing roles.
 

2 Sep 2009 Florence Nightingale Exhibit - The 39th Nurse.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Florence Nightingale's death in 2010, artist Joanelle Mulrain will be staging an exhibition at the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum, Florida, from October to December 2009.
 
As part of the exhibition, nurses are encouraged to share their stories. Further details

12 Aug 2009 Dr Simon Jones interviewed on BBC
Dr Simon Jones, Senior Research Fellow at the National Nursing Research Unit and Chief Statistician at Dr Foster Intelligence, was interviewed today on BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio Wales about the cost of missed NHS appointments.

17 Jul 2009 Violence victims need abortion support
A new paper by researchers at the King's Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery calls for greater awareness about domestic violence and underlines the need to support women seeking to terminate unwanted pregnancies associated with partner violence. The paper is published in The Obstetrician & Gynaecologist (TOG) today. 
 
15 Jul 2009 UNICEF honours midwifery programmes
Midwifery programmes at King's Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery have been accredited by the Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) at UNICEF for excellence in infant feeding for the second year running – making King’s one of only two universities in England to have programmes re-accredited.

Students at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery are embarking on an exchange with the University of Pennsylvania, USA as part of the first sponsored programme of its kind within nursing education.

Boosting workplace performance will be the central theme addressed by Professor Ian Norman, Associate Dean of the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery, at the launch this week of a new programme of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) workshops, courses and bespoke educational opportunities.

01 Jan 2009 New collaboration research nurse shortages and workforce mobility in the Middle East Researchers at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery, King’s College London and the American University of Beirut have been awarded a two year grant by the World Health Organisation’s Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research to investigate how to attract and retain health workers in the Middle East.
