A major objective of the Academy is to link together university departments of nursing across Europe, in which there are active doctoral training programmes, and to provide a forum for established and developing nurse researchers to meet to develop a European perspective on their work. To this end the Academy organises an annual summer school to provide advanced research training to doctoral nursing students. The Annual Scientific meeting, which takes place each January, provides a forum for Fellows of the Academy to discuss the contribution of research by nurses and midwives to our understanding of health care and healthcare delivery in Europe, and to develop international research collaborations.
