Delegation from School of Nursing at University of Sao Paulo

Members of the University of Sao Paulo (USP) faculty visited the School on Thursday 3 January 2008 for a week. Ian Fielding from the international office also met with the delegation.
Sao Paulo Visit
The two key objectives of the visit were:
  • To report on findings from the needs assessment project and to share ideas on future research ventures and practice development initiatives.
  • To promote collaboration regarding PhD students and other possible areas for shared activity such as student and faculty exchange.

Visit to the School February 2006

The USP faculty first visited the School in February 2006 and discussed research interests primarily in public health and PhD programme and potential for collaboration.

Key outcomes of this visit were:
  • Signed letter of agreement. This enables their PhD students to apply for federal funding to support a period of study abroad at FNSNM. No students have requested to do so to date in part due to the mismatch between funding available and cost of living in London.
  • Collaboration on a needs research project in Sao Paulo by Professor Sarah Cowley who was appointed to the advisory board for the study.
  • Two visits to USP by Sarah Cowley in 2006 and 2007 giving seminars and lectures to their students and presenting shared conference papers.
