Aims and objectives

The aim of the Burdett Institute is to improve the health and wellbeing of people with gastrointestinal (GI) disorders by promoting excellence in GI nursing education, research and practice.
 
  1. People with GI disorders will have easy access to the evidence based patient information which they want in a variety of formats and tailored to diverse levels of understanding
  2. GI nurses will have easy access to evidence based information on which to base their clinical care of patients with GI disorders
  3. GI nurses will have access to high quality educational courses that support competent clinical practice from early post-registration practice to advanced practitioner/nurse consultant practice 
  4. The research capacity and output of quality evidence underpinning GI nursing practice and meeting patients’ priorities will be expanded
