Biography
Dr Stuart Griffin is a Senior Lecturer in the Defence Studies Department. He joined DSD in 1999 having taught for several years at the University of Birmingham where he also undertook both his MA and PhD in the Department of Politics and International Studies. Stuart's undergraduate degree was in Renaissance and Modern History at the University of Warwick. Stuart's primary research areas in recent years have been international peacekeeping and the evolution of joint warfare. He has been a core member of JSCSC and joint MoD-FCO-DfiD peacekeeping training in support of the UN all over the world, including Argentina, Bangladesh, Ghana, Kenya, Kuwait, Nigeria, Romania, Senegal and South Africa. Stuart has written widely on UN and Commonwealth peacekeeping, the conflict management role of the OSCE, sources of conflict in the CIS and joint and combined warfare. He is currently working on the theory and practice of stabilisation operations.
