Annual Education Lecture
The Department of Education & Professional Studies holds an education lecture in June each year. Guest speakers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and speak on the subject of education in its broadest sense.
2011 Annual Education Lecture
The subject for the Department of Education & Professional Studies' Annual Education Lecture in 2011 was Classics Education and we were delighted to welcome Mayor of London Boris Johnson to the College.
King's is one of only two UK insitutions to offer a Classics PGCE and the Mayor was joined by members of staff from the department, including Aisha Khan Evans, PGCE Classics Director, a former PGCE student and staff from King's Department of Classics in a panel discussion.
Mr Johnson, who has campaigned extensively against the demise of Classics teaching, reaffirmed his belief that subjects such as Latin and ancient Greek should be accessible to all, and not remain the preserve of the elite few.
