Binghampton Geomorphology Symposium 2005
The theme of this year's Binghampton Symposium was 'Geomorphology and Hydrology'. Angela Gurnell gave the keynote lecture, that considered ecology from the perspective of geomorphology. Papers from the symposium are expected to be published early in 2006 in the journal 'Geomorphology'.
Papers from the first joint KINGS-UNC-NUS geography workshop published
The first joint workshop organized by faculty members from the Departments of Geography at King's College London, the University Chapel Hill-North Carolina, and the National University of Singapore was held at King's College London on June 22, 2004. Papers from the workshop will be published in the Autumn-Winter issues of Area and European Urban and Regional Studies.
Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation (Taiwan) research grant
Professor Rob Imrie and Dr Mike Raco have been awarded £38K by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation (Taiwan) for a project entitled 'Active citizens and the role of community in the sustainable development of cities: a cross national perspective'. The project will run from September 2005 for two years.
British Academy research grant
Professor Rob Imrie has been awarded £7,000 by the British Academy for a project about 'the regulation of architects' practices to run for six months from September 2005.
Royal Society
Professor Martin Wooster has been awarded a UK-China Fellowship for Dr Weidgong Xu to visit King's to work on a collaborative project.
NERC research grant
Professor Martin Wooster (with CEH) has been awarded £340,000 for a project entitled ‘ Boreal forest fire intensity dynamics and its impact on carbon flux estimation’.
NERC research grant
Dr Andreas Baas has been awarded £50,000 for a project entitled ‘A cellular automaton model for investigating landscape development in vegetated aeolian environments’.
