Federico Cugurullo
Research
Federico’s research focuses on the production and circulation of ideas related to sustainable development philosophy and the ways they impact on urban planning.
The project is based on the consideration that sustainability, as an ideology, requires a constant production of ideas and concepts in order to live on, develop and then become part of the landscape of knowledge. The objective of the research is to examine the policy process by means of which sustainability-related knowledge is produced and analyze the circuits through which it flows. Since the 1980s, the entire world has seen an increasing diffusion of ‘eco-consciousness’ with the eco-city at the forefront of this global phenomenon. Today the eco-city has become commonplace, but even if we are aware of it, even if we are part of it, we cannot fully explain how it has happened, what forms it has assumed, and what processes and patterns have occurred.
The aim of Federico’s research is therefore to explore the ‘eco-city phenomenon’ so as to understand how we have linked our future to that of the sustainable city.
