Making Research Count

Making Research Count logo Making Research Count (MRC) is an English initiative that facilitates the dissemination of research findings between academics, practitioners, carers and users in the social care field.

It is a network comprising the social work/care departments of 10 English universities, each of which have forged partnerships with local agencies (some 60 in total) that include children’s and adults’ services, health trusts and independent sector organisations.

By means of a continuing programme of conferences, seminars and workshops, MRC aspires to promote communication between those examining social care in the English context and those engaged in it. Read further.

Making Research Count at King’s

King’s College London has participated as one of the 10 universities in MRC since April 2005 through the Social Care Workforce Research Unit (SCWRU).

Commencing in 2011, MRC@KCL is a social network initiative that further seeks to promote the goals of Making Research Count. More details on Community of Practice page.

James Blewett of SCWRU is both MRC co-ordinator for London, and current national Chair of the organisation. The Unit, led by its Director Professor Jill Manthorpe, takes an active role in MRC dissemination programmes.
