Professional background and areas of interest
Jill Manthorpe has a background of work in the voluntary sector and in higher education. She has chaired Boards of Trustees and been a Trustee of a number of voluntary sector groups working with older people. She has served as a Non-Executive Director of two NHS Trusts and has been Chair of an Adult Safeguarding Committee.
Her areas of particular research interest are older people, risk and safeguarding.
Professor Manthorpe is a Senior Investigator with the National Institute of Health Research and an Associate Director of the NIHR School for Social Care Research.
She works with Making Research Count to promote knowledge transfer.
She is the Chair of the Editorial Board of Ageing & Society.
