Dr Matt Vidal

Dr Matt Vidal Matt Vidal received his PhD in sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007, where he specialised in organisations, the sociology of work, economic sociology and comparative political economy. He was appointed as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the UCLA Institute for Research on Labor and Employment for the 2007-8 school year, and was appointed as Lecturer in Work and Organisations at King's beginning in 2008.   Matt's PhD dissertation examines industrial restructuring and employment relations in US manufacturing, looking specifically at the implementation and institutionalisation of lean production in the manufacturing sector. During graduate school Matt worked as a research associate for six years at the Center on Wisconsin Strategy, focusing on economic and workforce development. Matt has recently done work for the Economic Policy Institute in the United States on the role of unions in job quality.
