Research

The Department of War Studies and the Defence Studies Department combine to form the War Studies Group (WSG) which generates on average £4million per annum in research income. The Group has a long tradition of contributing to public life and policy and an international reputation for excellence in scholarship and policy-relevant research. Specialising in military studies, security policy and international affairs in Europe, the Group's 2008 RAE submission saw its research power ranked 3rd. With 69 (61.3 FTE) research active staff included in the submission, it is one of the largest units in the world.
