Types of Partnership
We offer two types of partnerships: a Full Partnership and a Mentor Scheme
partnership, although we are hoping to move to a wholly Full Partnership model.
Full Partnership
Full Partnership schools provide a Professional Coordinating Mentor (PCM) to oversee King's PGCE students and Subject Mentors. Full Partnership schools also organise a programme of whole-school activities for PGCE students.
Mentor Scheme
Mentor Scheme schools provide Subject Mentors only and the programme of whole-school activities is provided by Area Professional Tutors (APTs) from King's. However, Subject Mentors are required to facilitate some whole-school activities which would otherwise be undertaken by a PCM under the Full Partnership Scheme.
Mentor Scheme PGCE students are required to be out of their placement schools for three Friday afternoon meetings in SE1 and SE2. Please see the
PGCE timetable for dates.
New to partnership?
If you are new to the partnership or are considering changing from the Mentor to the Full Partnership scheme in the following academic year, please see the London Mentors’ website
www.londonmentors.net for Secondary Professional Studies resources.
