Task Group on Assessment and Testing
In 1987-88, a Task Group on Assessment & Testing was set up by the then Secretary of State for Education, to advise government on the assessment policy for the new National Curriculum. This group was led by Professor Paul Black and produced a main report in January 1988 and a supplementary one three months later. Many, but by no means all, of its recommendations were accepted and are now part of national assessment policies. Furthermore, the report is still referred to in numerous publications about national assessment policies. Since it is no longer available in print, it is now made available using the link on the right-hand column.
