Dr Zhiyuan Simon Tan
Dr Zhiyuan Simon Tan joined the Department as a lecturer in accounting, accountability and financial management in September 2010. He obtained his PhD in Accounting and Finance at the London School of Economics (LSE). His doctorial thesis examines the involvement of sell-side financial analysts in corporate governance in the US and the UK. It addresses under what conditions analysts started to work on corporate governance issues, how analysts evaluate the corporate governance procedures adopted by companies, and how analysts integrate governance issues within investment analyses. These issues are addressed from a sociological perspective. Broadly speaking, Simon’s research area is in social studies of accounting and finance. He has acted as an ad hoc reviewer for academic journals and a conference.
Before joining the Department at King’s, Simon worked as a graduate teaching assistant and academic advisor at the LSE.
Simon obtained both of his BSc in Accounting and Finance and MSc in Accounting and Finance from the LSE.
