Those seeking to obtain graduate membership of the CIPD will be expected to undertake additional study on Fridays, to include visits to organisations and a series of workshops which aim to develop some of the core skills and knowledge required to practice as a human resource professional.

For applicants to the MSc in Public Services Policy & Management, work and career experience in the public services are valuable, and may substitute to some extent for academic qualifications.  Applicants without relevant professional experience must demonstrate sound backgrounds in social science.ithout relevant professional experience must demonstrate sound backgrounds in social science.  For more information on this programme please see the programme leaflet or more detailed information can be found in the programme brochure.

Postgraduate deposit scheme 2011/12 entry

In the School of Social Science and Public Policy, all applicants holding offers for admission to a postgraduate diploma or Master’s degree in 2011/12 are required to pay a deposit against the first year’s fee. Whether your offer is conditional or unconditional, this is payable when you accept the offer of a place.

How much must I pay?
The amount you are required to pay varies depending on the course, your fee paying status, and the mode of study.

When must I pay?
The deadline for deposit payment is August 31st or, if an offer is made after 28th Feb, the deadline is 4 weeks from the date of the offer.

How do I pay?
There are two ways to pay. You may pay online or, for those who are unable to do so, by cheque.

Online payment
Visit www.kcl.ac.uk/feepay. You indicate that the payment is a deposit payment by ticking the appropriate ‘Postgraduate deposit payment’ and then pay by credit/debit card.

By UK Sterling cheque
Make your cheque payable to King’s College London and send to CASA, with your reply slip, address below:

Ensure that you write your full name, your ID reference (found at the top of your offer letter) and the words ‘postgraduate deposit’ on the back of the cheque.

What happens if I haven’t paid by the due date?
Your offer will be withdrawn and your place offered to someone else.

What happens if I don’t meet the conditions of my offer and so am unable to come to King’s?
When you notify us that you have not met your offer conditions, we will ask the credit control department to return any deposit you have already paid.

I am being sponsored/I have a scholarship to study at King’s. Do I still need to pay a deposit?
No. If you can provide proof (before the deposit deadline for your department) that an organisation will pay your fees at King’s, then you do not have to pay a deposit. If you only receive confirmation of your sponsorship after you have paid your deposit, then we will ask credit control to return your deposit to you.

What happens if I decide not to come to King’s – can I get my deposit back?
Under the regulations governing distance contracts, you have a 10-day cooling off period. In practice this means that, from the date that King’s receives your deposit, you have 14 days in which to change your mind. If you notify us in writing within this period that you no longer wish to take up your place at King’s, we will withdraw the offer and ask credit control to return your deposit. After that time, the deposit is non¬refundable. You are strongly advised to make sure that you will have sufficient funds in place to finance your programme at King’s before accepting the offer, as deposits will not be refunded on grounds of financial difficulty.

Once I have begun my programme at King’s, how will the invoicing process work?
Once you have enrolled on your programme you will be invoiced for the 2011/12 session. Your invoice should show both the full amount of the programme fee and the amount outstanding to be paid (reflecting the deposit you will already have paid).
