BA/BSc Politics of the International Economy
The Department of Political Economy is pleased to announce the launch of a new undergraduate degree in Political Economy. We are recruiting now, with places available to start in the academic year 2012-13.
The BA/BSc in the Politics of the International Economy, is a high calibre programme designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge to understand, analyse and participate in the politics of the international economy as it is developing in the twenty-first century.
Depending on their choice of options, students may graduate with a BA, or a BSc. The BSc pathway is designed to provide students with a solid grounding in economics.
Key benefits of the degree include:
-
Academic study of international economic and political concepts;
-
Teaching by an international team of experts;
-
A wide range of core and optional courses, covering all aspects of international political economy;
-
An international focus to prepare students for work in an increasingly interdependent world.
The degree is closely related to the BA International Politics. Students are able to take a number of optional courses offered by that degree, in addition to those offered as part of the main programme.
Structure
In Year 1, students take five introductory modules, which provide them with the foundations for the study of political economy.
In Years 2 and 3, students choose from two different pathways, depending on their interest. Students reading for the BA will focus on political analysis and processes, while retaining a core of economics in their courseload. BSc students will pursue a programme weighted more towards economic analysis, with the aim of enabling them to analyse the economic dimension of international affairs.
