Pakistan: A Hard Country. By Anatol Lieven was voted one of the 'Book of the Year' in the Economist.

'Anatol Lieven captures the richness of the place wonderfully. His book has the virtues of both journalism and scholarship—not surprising, since Mr Lieven used to be a reporter for the Times and is now at King’s College, London.
