Speaker: Professor Greg Barton is the Herb Feith Research Professor for the Study of Indonesia at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. He is acting Director of the Centre for Islam and the Modern World (CIMOW), Deputy UNESCO Chair in Interreligious and Intercultural Relations, and is a lead researcher at the Global Terrorism Research Centre at Monash.

Greg has extensive experience at a wide range of levels in engaging with Muslim community groups in Australia and in contributing to dialogue initiatives across communities. He has particular expertise about Islam, social movements and civil society groups in Indonesia, and in Southeast Asia. Over the past three years, as part of the Monash GTReC ARC Linkage project on radicalisation and counter-radicalisation, Greg has researched CVE initiatives in Southeast Asia and analysed them within a global comparative context.

Description
A major scholarly conference organised jointly by the Department of War Studies and Waterloo 200, a body set up to co-ordinate the commemoration of the battle during the upcoming bicentenary. Internationally recognised scholars will present papers over the course of these two days discussing the battle and its impact on the nineteenth century and beyond.
