Maximilian Kuhn is a research associate at the Center for Energy, Marine Transportation and Public Policy (CEMTPP) at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Columbia University, visiting research associate and chief editor of the EUCERS Strategy Papers at the European Centre for Energy and Resource Security (EUCERS), at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London, as well as doctoral student at the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany, in the PhD programme for Caspian Region Environmental and Energy Studies (CREES). (CREES).
Maximilian Kuhn specialises in Caspian region studies including Iran, energy policy, international energy markets, and policy analysis for policy making. Prior to commencing his PhD, he has worked in public affairs and institutional public relations, corporate PR and agenda setting.
Maximilian Kuhn’s current research focuses on energy and energy policy decision-making and future-studies, such as scenarios for the Eurasian gas market for 2030, and the future of the Iranian natural gas sector.
His academic work has been published in specialised journals and he has contributed to and has been quoted in international media such as BBC World Service, Spiegel and other media outlets specialising on energy.
Maximilian Kuhn has published various academic articles on the Eurasian gas market, the liberalisation of the Turkish energy market and on unconventional gas.
He has studied in Munich and Berlin and also spent terms abroad in Washington, New York, Moscow, Baku and Ankara. Maximilian Kuhn has received his Diploma in Political Sciences, (equivalent to MSc.), from the Freie Universität Berlin. His PhD is funded by a scholarship from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes.
