EUCERS recommends an event on the Ethics of Revolution and Intervention, hosted by The Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London. The agonies of Syria raise profound and urgent questions: When is revolution justified? What means may revolutionaries use in their struggle? And when are outsiders justified in intervening to support the revolutionaries?
Allen Buchanan, Visiting Professor at The Dickson Poon School of Law, is one of America’s leading theorists and author of Human Rights, Legitimacy and the Use of Force. He will present a guide for thinking revolutions through, with special attention to the timing of action by outsiders. Mervyn Frost, Head of War Studies at King’s College London, will follow with his own reflections on revolution and intervention. Guests will then be welcomed into the discussion.
