Seminars:
The long running
International Commission for the Maritime History Seminar Series, now coordinated by Dr James, continues to attract a wide range of expert speakers, and a very good public audience. Opportunities to inter-act with historians working in other areas of the maritime past are particularly important for the Unit, exposing our students to their very different intellectual and methodological approaches.
The flexible Laughton Naval History Seminar Series continues to provide opportunities for research students, undergraduates, visiting academics and naval officers to deliver papers and profit from the resultant discussion. This seminar is entirely student run. The papers covered a diverse spectrum of themes, of historic and contemporary interest, providing an excellent platform for new researchers to present original ideas in an informal environment, while affording an opportunity to for visiting international experts.
