Professional background and current research

Laura has a background in psychology and worked with older people with cognitive problems and dementia for over ten years in various clinical, care and research settings. Previous research includes evaluating the impact of reminiscence art groups for people with dementia living in care homes, and investigating continence management for people with dementia living at home and the impact this has on their relationships with cohabiting family members.

Laura's current work is an NIHR School for Social Care Research funded project titled ‘Investigating “optimal time”: Multiple perspectives on the timing of moving into care homes for people with dementia’.
