Pre-Sessional Courses

Our 18 and 13 week courses are now full. Limited places on all other courses are available.

Pre-sessional courses run early in the year for 18, 13, 9 or 5 weeks. These full-time, intensive courses are open to all non-native speaking students who are holding King’s degree offers or offers from other UK universities. Successful completion of the course at the required level will fulfil any language conditions of your King’s degree offer and you will not need to re-take IELTS/TOEFL for entry into King’s. The length of course required depends on your current language level and the entry requirements of your course.

You can find details of the course you will need here.

You can find notes on how to apply here.

The course prepares you for the demands of higher education by focusing on improving your language skills within an academic context, with a particular focus on improving your extended academic writing skills, developing your critical approaches to reading and developing your library-based research skills.

King's Pre-sessional courses are available for conditional and unconditional offer holders, and provide an excellent introduction to UK study for International students.

Pre-sessional courses have been held at King’s since 1977. Students come from a wide range of academic, cultural and educational backgrounds and, in 2010, more than 190 students representing over 35 different nationalities attended our pre-sessional courses, providing an ideal environment for you to learn about academic, cultural and social life in Britain and to follow an intensive programme of language development. Past students have found that the course helps them to adapt to the UK academic environment, settle into London life, make friends and start their chosen degree with greater confidence.
