Overseas qualifications and entry requirements
We accept a broad range of qualifications from around the world and King’s warmly welcomes applications from Ireland. Please read below for further information about entry requirements and how to apply.
Undergraduate
The Irish Leaving Certificate is acceptable for entry to undergraduate programmes at King’s. The grades acceptable vary from programme to programme, from grades of B1 B1 B2 B2 B3 B3 to A1 A1 A2 A2 B1 B1, with possible subject preferences. Postgraduate
You will be considered for entry onto a postgraduate taught programme if you have taken a bachelor's degree that is recognised as equivalent to a UK Bachelor (Honours) degree from a recognised university and achieved good grades. For postgraduate research programmes at King’s you are typically required to be studying for or have completed a master's degree from a recognised university and in a directly related subject in order to be eligible for entry although this is not always necessary. English language requirements
King's accepts a number of different English language tests for entry onto our programmes of study with IELTS being the most common. English language requirements vary slightly from subject to subject. For a full list please refer to the undergraduate and graduate tables. Our British Council accredited English Language Centre also offers a range of pre-sessional, foundation and pre-master’s programmes should you need to improve your English in advance of your degree.
Scholarships
King’s Graduate School offers a range of funding opportunities for postgraduate students applying from Ireland. These include the Graduate School studentship, King’s Annual fund Studentship, King’s Alumni Bursaries, School of Law Research Studentships and many more. There are a number of external scholarship providers that will also offer scholarships for Irish students, such as the Medical Research Council, the Arts & Humanities Research Council, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the Economic and Social Research Council and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.
