The UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF)
In 2011, the Higher Education Academy launched the revised UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) for teaching and supporting learning in higher education. The framework is part of an ongoing sector-wide professionalisation of teaching and learning support in UK higher education.
The framework is intended to support institutions and practitioners to develop excellence in teaching and demonstrate the professionalism of teaching staff to students and other stakeholders in higher education. It aims to facilitate the benchmarking of teaching and learning support roles within higher education.
The UKPSF is comprised of a set of descriptors that characterise four broad categories of teaching and learner support roles in relation to three dimensions:

the areas of activity of those who teach and support learners within higher education

the core knowledge to undertake these activities

and the professional values of teachers in higher education
The UKPSF has been used to inform the design and assessment strategies of King’s Learning Institute programmes.
Using the UKPSF
You are encouraged to review the UKPSF as part of your engagement with the taught programmes and use the framework to reflect on your professional role, plan your individual ongoing professional development and the ways you can demonstrate achievement of the descriptors at the relevant level within the programme assessments.

How KLI provision maps against the UKPSF

If you successfully complete the Enhancing Academic Practice module and/or the Postgraduate Certificate awards you will be able to apply for recognition by the Higher Education Academy at the appropriate level of Fellowship.
