Biography
Dr Laurie Lomas is a Visiting Senior Lecturer in Higher Education who now works part-time at King's Learning Institute. He has a wide range of academic interests and qualifications; a BA (Hons) in Economic and Social History, a Diploma in Management Studies, an MA in Curriculum Studies and a PhD that examined quality management in Higher Education.
Before coming to King’s College in September 2002, Laurie was a headteacher and then a Principal Lecturer in a university business school. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Laurie received the Emerald Literati Network Outstanding Paper Award for 2008.
Teaching Approach
I am concerned to meet the needs of the participants as customers and also use their knowledge and experiences as a resource. As well as using my research and study to suggest frameworks and models for their analysis, I also see my role to be a facilitator of learning.
Research
My research interests are quality assurance and enhancement in higher education, higher education management, the context of higher education and international higher education systems.
