Graduate School's role within the College

The College-wide Graduate School’s overall objective is to enhance the experience of postgraduate students at King’s and to ensure that all students fulfil their full potential.

There are a number of dedicated members of staff within the Graduate School, which receives its direct administrative support from Academic Services. In addition, staff from academic Schools and central departments across the College contribute towards the running of the Graduate School. There is a Head of Graduate Studies in each School who has responsibility for postgraduate research students within that School. The central Graduate School team is located at the Waterloo Campus and works closely with all areas of the College to achieve its aims and objectives.

We are here to ensure that your educational experience at King’s is exceptional

The Graduate School was founded at King’s in 2006 to recognise the central role postgraduate students play in the life of the College and in its research culture. The Graduate School has a number of functions at King’s, among others we:

  • help recruit the best students from around the world
  • provide inductions so that they know what King’s has to offer
  • provide a wide range of courses and resources that will help students write better PhDs in a timely fashion and realise their full personal potential
  • provide social events and facilities to allow postgraduates from different disciplines and Schools to meet each other
  • make available a variety of resources to help our postgraduates travel, deliver papers at conferences and organise their own training activities and events
  • oversee the quality of the supervision and training you will be offered while at King’s
