I am able to log on to the online booking system but am having trouble booking a place on a course
Please go to our
home page where we have a guide to booking training courses online.
Why can’t I find a course on the Skills Forge Website that has been scheduled in the RDP brochure?
Your user status will affect the courses you can view and book onto on Skills Forge. For example, if you are a Student and try to view a course that is for research staff only, you will not be able to see the course online. This will also occur if you are a member of staff trying to view a course that is for students only. However, many of our courses cater for both students and research staff, so if you are unsure please
email us or telephone 020 7848 3931 / 3746.
Who should I contact to discuss a course?
If you would like to discuss course content or find out whether a course is suitable for you please
email us or telephone 020 7848 3931 / 3746.
How many training days am I entitled to?
All research staff and research students at King’s are entitled to two weeks worth of training per year. The College has taken the view that other development activities can be used to contribute towards the two weeks worth, including attendance at conference, running events, presenting at a research seminar etc. The Research Councils require all of their funded students and post-docs to fulfil this training requirement, and the College has endorsed the policy that all research students should attend this amount of transferable skills training.
What happens if I can’t attend a course?
To withdraw from a course, go to Skills Forge and cancel your online booking. Please note that you must cancel your booking from the course at least 48 hours before the course is due to take place. If you are sick on the day of the course, please
email us or call 020 7848 3931 / 3746 as soon as possible. As your place is being funded by the Researcher Development Programme, if you accept the offer and then do not attend the workshop, you or your department may be liable to a penalty charge.
