Martin Bachmayer, Deputy Residence Manager, Great Dover Street Apartments:

“King’s offers a few types of accommodation. We’ve got the self-catered accommodation, traditional style, with single and twin rooms, on corridors, sharing kitchens and bathroom facilities. We also have a catered residence. Traditional style; single rooms, on a corridor sharing bathroom facilities and there are some cooking facilities. Then there are the apartment style residences. Single, en-suite rooms, you share a kitchen with your other flatmates.”

Adedeji Olowe, Resident, Great Dover Street Apartments:

“We’ve got a red room, which is a kind of games room, so we’ve go there in the evenings sometimes and play pool, and then watch movies on movie nights. Then we’ve got a very nice laundry, where we can just pop in and wash all the stuff we need to do. The rooms are good, the rooms are pretty clean and the kitchen is pretty great. So if you like to cook you can spend all the time you want in the kitchen and cook all the things you want to do. We’ve got great common rooms, we’ve got a kitchen where people can mix together and just eat together, and share stories and watch football. But at the same time we have privacy if you want privacy, so it’s kind of a balance, the way you really want it to be.”

Martin Bachmayer, Deputy Residence Manager, Great Dover Street Apartments:

“Well as we offer such a variety of residences, it’s very important that the student has a look online, reads up on the residences, the facilities, the location, what they have to offer, the cost and if it’s possible, come and take a look at the residence and get a feel for the place.”

Klaudia Mach, Resident, Hampstead Residence:

“Living in Hampstead made my life really easy, especially at the start. It was really easy for me to make friends here because people were basically in the same situation. There’s a lot going on. We have a games room, we have a TV room, we have common rooms within the residence. Like a music room where you can access pianos and other instruments if you wanted.”

Martin Bachmayer, Deputy Residence Manager, Great Dover Street Apartments:

“All residences have security, on-call management, senior students, internet access, on-site laundry, and some of them, also have additional common rooms, TV rooms, games rooms, and computer rooms.”

“The other option is the Intercollegiate Residences. These are owned by the University of London. They’re all centrally located. They’re all catered, and you have an opportunity to mix with a wide range of students from other colleges. The alternatives are obviously third-party providers. These are companies which specialise in student accommodation. There’s the private rented sector, there’s living at home, but regardless of where you’re going to live, you will make friends.”
