International entry requirements (PG)

King's College London students in the Greenwood Theatre

King's welcomes applicants to our postgraduate taught and research courses from countries all over the world. The information below is intended to give general guidance to those considering applying for 2018 entry for postgraduate study at King's.

Important notes:

  • Exact entry requirements will vary by programme. Some programmes will specify grades required for entry along with compulsory subject areas, or state preferred subject areas. We have provided general guidance for programmes that ask for a Bachelors degree or Masters degree, but it is important that you also check our online prospectus for any non-academic entry requirements as well as for general application guidance.

  • To follow our programmes successfully, you must have a good command of English and be able to apply this in an academic environment. Therefore, you are usually required to provide evidence of your competence in English before starting your studies.

  • King's regularly reviews its entry requirements at the start of each academic year and the entry requirements below are intended as a guide and may be subject to change.

  • King's has a competitive application process for our courses: meeting the typical entry requirements alone will not guarantee that you will be successful in receiving an offer to study at King's, but we hope that you will consider applying.

  • All qualifications and institutions will be cross checked on the UK ENIC databases. UK ENIC is the national agency for the recognition and comparison of international qualifications. If your institution or qualification is not on this list, we will not be able to consider your application. If you can't find your country or qualification in the list below or would like to check the status of your institution with us, please contact our King's Advisors for further advice.

The differing grading systems at Indian universities will be taken into consideration. If your degree is graded out of 4, 7 or 8, your scores would be assessed on a case-by-case basis. In these situations, we may ask for additional materials, such as a grading scale or score conversation sheet, to assess your application.

Important note:
  • Some of our courses are very competitive, so meeting our typical entry requirements does not guarantee that you will be made an offer. For competitive courses you will be a stronger candidate for admission if you have higher grades and are attending a university considered prestigious.

  • For our most competitive courses at postgraduate taught level (i.e. those within the Department of Management, the Faculty of Law, and the Department of Culture, Media & Creative Industries), please note that offers will usually only be made to applicants from universities considered by King’s to be prestigious, usually with a requirement of 65% or higher.

  • If percentage and GPA are both present, percentage will be used in preference to GPA.

Postgraduate research courses

We welcome applications to our PhD and other research courses from students who have taken a two year Master’s degree from a recognised university.

Grade requirements for each course will vary. However, as an approximate guideline our requirements are in the region of 60-65%+ average across all years of study.
