Preparation courses

King's College London students at Guy's Campus

We understand that studying a degree in a new country can be challenging, especially when it’s taught in another language. Our academic preparation courses are designed to get you ready for undergraduate and postgraduate study in the UK.

You will learn the academic skills needed to meet the demands of higher education like essay writing, research skills, exam technique and presentation skills. You will also develop a broad academic awareness by studying a number of subjects while building essential knowledge in your chosen subject area.

Benefit from: small class sizes, one-to-one support from your tutors and a dedicated welfare adviser throughout the course.

There are three options available, depending on your level of study and the preparation you need:

If you are not sure which academic preparation course you need, please select the statement below that applies to you:

My high school qualifications don't meet the entry requirements for undergraduate study

If you don't have a suitable qualification that allows you direct entry to a UK university, you can study the King’s International Foundation Programme. This course will bridge the gap in your academic learning, improve your academic English and ensure that you’re ready for an undergraduate degree at King’s and other top UK universities.

You will receive a guaranteed conditional offer (or interview) for nearly all undergraduate degrees at King’s.

My English language level doesn’t meet my degree requirements

If you already hold an offer to study a degree at King’s and English is not your first language, you can take a Pre-sessional course over the spring and summer. The aim of the course is to improve your academic English language level to meet the requirements of your degree offer. You can also take the course if you just want additional English language practice before starting your degree.

I need extra preparation before starting postgraduate study

If you have completed an undergraduate degree from a non-UK university, you can study the International Pre-master’s Programme at King’s. This course will bridge the gap in your academic learning, improve your academic English and ensure you're ready to study a postgraduate degree in the UK, either at King’s or another top university.
