This year King’s launched its first summer school outside the UK for students in the Mumbai region of India. Over 200 undergraduate students spent up to four weeks being taught by King’s faculty from London with courses in the fields of marketing, politics and business in a global context.

Session One: 2 - 13 April

  • International Marketing
  • Quantitative Methods & Statistics
Session Two: 16 - 27 April

  • International Political Economy
  • The Entrepreneur: skills and smart thinking

Four of the best and brightest students from Mumbai won scholarships to attend the London-based Summer School at King’s, which will enable them to experience all the excitement of London in the year of the Diamond Jubilee and Olympic Games.

The opening of the Mumbai Summer School comes just a few months after the official launch of the King’s Mumbai Alumni Branch last year and the highly-successful inauguration of the King’s India Institute in London in January 2012.

Professor Keith Hoggart, Vice-Principal for External Relations at King’s said: ‘Mumbai is a major 21st century cultural and economic centre, so I am delighted that our first summer school outside the UK will be held here this month. King’s is looking to enhance the level and range of activities in Mumbai and all over India, so this is a fantastic development for our student and alumni community. It’s also a sign of things to come in 2012 as King’s further develops its relationship with India.’

Professor Sunil Khilnani, Director and Avantha Chair at the King’s India Institute in London said: ‘The King's India Institute is rapidly building collaborations with partner institutions all over India, and Mumbai is a city close to our hearts. We're planning to connect with the many bright young people who make Mumbai such an energetic global city, and we very much hope that some who participate in the summer school will set their sights on studying with us in London in future years.’
