Application Periods
Undergraduates (first year)
Undergraduate accommodation guarantee:
All full-time undergraduate students who are entering higher education in the UK for the first time on a programme of two or more years duration, who submit their accommodation application prior to the 30th June closing date and whose home address at the time of application is outside the M25 ring road (including international applicants) are guaranteed an offer of one year (not necessarily their first) in either a College, nominated or Intercollegiate residence.
Applicants within this category who have firmly accepted a conditional (CF) or unconditional (UF) offer of a place on an academic programme at King's should however, expect to receive an offer of a place in residence in their first year.
Accommodation offers to eligible 'UF' undergraduate applicants will begin soon after the release of A-level results (15-August 2013). All applications will continue to be considered for any places that become available up to the beginning of October/start of the mid-session application period.
Applicants with a home address inside the M25 ring road and those who have previously commenced a higher education academic programme in the UK may apply but will have lower priority and are unlikely to be considered for accommodation until after the start of session. It is advisable to consider alternative accommodation options in the private rented sector.
Returning Students
A quota of places in each residence is allocated to returning students each year. If you are a registered student and have not spent a year within residence you will have a higher priority than those who have lived within residence previously. Priority for places will be given to those with special housing requirements. The majority of returning students will find accommodation in the private rented sector.
Accommodation offers will begin to be made to eligible returning student applicants from mid/late April. All applications will continue to be considered for any places that become available up to the beginning of October/start of the mid-session application period.
Postgraduates
Priority for postgraduate places in residences is given to new International/EU postgraduates who are entering the College for the first time on a full-time programme of study of at least one year, who have not lived or studied in the UK before and to postgraduates with exceptional need for College, nominated or Intercollegiate accommodation. However, not all applicants will be successful prior to the start of session and all applicants are encouraged to consider alternative accommodation options in the private rented sector.
Accommodation offers will begin to be made to eligible 'UF' postgraduate applicants from mid-July. All applications will continue to be considered for any places that become available up to the beginning of October/start of the mid-session application period.
Study Abroad/Exchange applicants
Provided that the accommodation application is submitted before 30 June closing date, priority is given to Study Abroad Independent applicants as well as Study Abroad Exchange applicants from partner universities outside the EU. At times of high demand, it may not be possible to offer rooms to Study Abroad Exchange applicants from partner universities within the EU and such applicants are advised to consider alternative accommodation options in the private rented sector. Please note that accommodation is not guaranteed and a premium may be charged if your course dates do not correspond to the standard College semester dates.
Places at the Intercollegiate Halls are usually only available for the full year session. However, applicants coming for the second and third semesters may make a direct application to the Intercollegiate Halls.
Accommodation offers will begin to be made to eligible 'UF' Study Abroad/Exchange applicants from mid-July. All applications will continue to be considered for any places that become available up to the beginning of October/start of the mid-session application period.
Couple Accommodation
There is some accommodation for couples in College, nominated and Intercollegiate residences. Priority is given to on-time postgraduate applicants who have never lived or studied in the UK before and on-time undergraduate applicants who are new to higher education in the UK and whose home address is outside the M25 ring road.
Accommodation offers will begin to be made to eligible 'UF' new and returning applicants from mid-July. All applications will continue to be considered for any places that become available up to the beginning of October/start of the mid-session application period.
ELC Pre-Sessional Course applicants
Applicants for Pre-Sessional courses at King's College London for either the 18, 13, 9 or 5 week programmes may apply for accommodation at King's residences or Moonraker Point. Please note that consideration will be given for all available places and, although an offer of accommodation cannot be guaranteed, notification of outcomes are usually emailed between 10-14 days before the start of your Pre-Sessional course.
