English language entry requirements
To participate fully in our programmes, you must have a good command of English and be able to apply this in an academic environment. You will usually be required to provide certification of your competence in English before starting your studies and this requirement is waived only if the College is satisfied that your previous academic record clearly demonstrates your ability to study and be examined in the English language.
English Language Centre
The English Language Centre offers a number of programmes to help students reach their language and skills level required for entry onto our undergraduate programmes. The International Foundation Programme in Humanities & Social Sciences and the International Science Foundation Programme offer guaranteed pathways into King's and are aimed at students who do not yet qualify for direct entry into undergraduate degree programmes.
Summer pre-sessional programmes are also available for those who hold conditional degree offers but whose English is not yet at the required level. These programmes have different English language entry requirements and are also suitable for those who wish to develop their English and academic study skills further prior to starting their degree.
The Centre provides an extensive range of academic English and study skills support free of charge to both home and overseas students during their degree. These courses run across all campuses and are designed to support you in your studies and help you improve your language and study skills once you are at King's.
Further details are at the English Language Centre website or email elc@kcl.ac.uk.
Minimum entry requirements
The table below shows our minimum entry requirements for our undergraduate programmes. Please note that these have been upwardly revised (after publication of some College print information) in some subject areas following changes to UK Border Agency policy on minimum entry levels. For entry onto any of the English Language Centre programmes outlined above, please refer to details given on the English Language Centre website.
