The English with Film Studies BA at King’s allows you to study in the heart of London and engage with both its literary and visual history. You will have the chance to explore a variety of exciting topics, with English modules covering global English literatures from the medieval to the contemporary, alongside Film Studies modules which will provide you with a detailed knowledge of the creative potential of film and media, and the relationship between cinema, media, and the societies it portrays.

Course essentials

The English with Film Studies BA is an inter-departmental course that covers a broad range of subjects, from contemporary poetry to medieval performance to creative writing. It combines a variety of approaches, including critical and cultural theory, close textual analysis and historical scholarship. We aim to offer open and imaginative approaches to classic literary and film texts together with current developments in both disciplines. This is a three-year course that comprises modules totaling 360 credits. Each year, you will take modules totaling 120 credits, with the additional option of studying abroad for part of the second year. In your second and third years you will enjoy great flexibility in your choice of optional modules, enabling you to study in depth those areas that most interest you.
