Roche University Bursary 2017-18
Roche, the world’s largest biotech company, is providing an exciting opportunity for students currently, or about to begin, studying Law or a STEM subject at King’s College London
What is the Roche University Bursary?
We are offering eight bursaries, each with a value of £750, with an associated experience day at Roche and yearlong mentoring support from a member of the business with a discipline relevant to the student’s subject.
Mentoring will be a minimum of one hour per month for 12 months and may take place either remotely or face to face.
The experience day will be held at the Roche premises in Welwyn and will be a combination of:
(i) an introduction to Roche and careers here;
(ii) practical workshops (CV and interviewing skills); and
(iii) a half day shadowing within a Roche team;
The experience day will take place at Roche’s UK pharmaceutical premises in Welwyn, Hertfordshire during Spring 2018 (for 2017 awardees).
It is Roche's aim to have a cross representation of awardees from across:
- Law departments
- STEM-focused faculties, and
- Business / Communications related courses.
Roche wants to support a diverse range of applicants applying for this opportunity.
Am I eligible to apply?
APPLICANTS MUST SATISFY AT LEAST ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
(i) From a socially disadvantaged background (with a household income of £25,000 or lower)
(ii) From a minority ethnic group
How do I apply?
Applications will be via an online application from 1st May 2017.
As part of this, applicants will need to include a 300-word answer to the following questions in order to demonstrate strong leadership potential to date:
(i) What they think it means to be a leader; and
(ii) Describing a situation where they demonstrated leadership.
The bursaries will be presented to successful applicants in October 2017 at a landmark event at each university campus.
Applications open on 1st MAY 2017 and close at 5pm on 30TH JUNE 2017.
Applications will be reviewed during July 2017 with a shortlist prepared by a core review team within Roche.
Shortlisted candidates will be notified by 31ST JULY 2017.
Following this, shortlisted students will need to prepare a 5-minute video outlining what they would do if they were world leader and had to solve a particular world problem. Videos must be submitted by 31ST AUGUST 2017.
Successful applicants will be informed by 30th SEPTEMBER 2017.
