What is Clearing?

If you have not been able to secure a place by the time Clearing starts, you can contact universities direct through Clearing to apply for available places.

What is Adjustment?

Each year some applicants pass their exams with better results than expected. This may mean that some will have not only met the conditions of their firm choice, but will have exceeded them. An adjustment period has been created by UCAS for these applicants - it provides an opportunity for them to reconsider where and what to study.

When is Clearing and Adjustment in 2009?

Undergraduate Clearing and Adjustment starts on 20 August 2009. We encourage you to contact us early from 20 August onwards as places will be limited. Most of the activity is in the first two days, but it is worth checking programme availability on this site throughout the Clearing period.

Details of how you can apply will be published on this site in the weeks leading up to clearing.

Which programmes will be in Clearing and Adjustment?

We will not have the exact programme details until close to Clearing and Adjustment 2009. Please check back regularly for updates.

Who can apply ?

You can apply through Clearing only if you fulfil one of the following:

You have not met the grades set by your 'Conditional Firm' or 'Conditional Insurance' choices
You have applied through UCAS but do not hold any offers
You have not applied through UCAS

You can apply through Adjustment only if you fulfil all of the following:

• Your results have met and exceeded the conditions of your conditional firm choice;

and

• you have paid the full application fee of £17.
