No cuts: background
In April 2009 the Principal emailed staff outlining the possibility of redundancies at King's and his opposition to potential industrial action by UCU.
The joint campus unions held a meeting putting the case against redundancies. Financial savings can be made other than by job cuts. Furthermore in the present climate education should be an area for investment, not cutbacks. The 'No Cuts @ King's campaign was formed together with the other campus unions to defend education and job security. During the early summer the campaign collected over 2000 signatures for a petition which we presented to the Principal immediately before the College Council meeting in June.
The campaign contines and needs your support.

King's credit rating increased - "Outlook is stable"
The press release from Standard and Poor's (May 2009), attached below with sections highlighted by us in bold, indicates that the College's financial situation is not as precarious as it might appear.
