Improving Places, Culture and Business Improvement Districts: Thriving Partnerships

Improving Places is the report resulting from a collaborative project with Arts Council England and the Mayor of London. The report highlights how partnerships between Culture and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) have a major positive effect on the places in which we live, work and play.

The research was undertaken by King's researcher Jenny Peevers who spoke to representatives from a number of BIDS across England and the US throughout 2016. This research was used to develop case studies which identify best practice for improvement across eight areas, including increasing footfall, enhancing the public realm or night-time economy, place-making and the development of tourism. In each case, the evidence demonstrates that it is the partnership between cultural organisation and the local BID which is the key to effective transformation.

Improving Places was launched on the 8 November 2017 at City Hall.
