King's response to Universities UK Consultation on Joint Expert Panel Report

King’s has welcomed the recommendations made in a report by the Joint Expert Panel (JEP) on the future of the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).

JEP was tasked with making an independent examination of the assumptions made in the original USS pension valuation process – one of the main contentions in the dispute on future changes to the scheme.

The JEP report suggests ways that the USS funding gap might be reduced. It also makes recommendations for ways that the deficit might be met through a less significant impact on staff take-home pay and a reduced burden for King’s as an employer.

Following a consultation by Universities UK (UUK) with employers on recommendations made in the JEP report, King’s has submitted our final response, following consultation with our staff, UCU trade union and our governing body.
