Educational aims & objectives

The lectures and tutorial will consist primarily of applying, analysing and implementing foundational numerical algorithms. In addition, independent ability to write programs for numerical methods will be further developed through coursework. Awareness of the limitations of numerical computing, theoretical connection of algorithms to Taylor series, and good programming practices will be running themes.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course the students should be able to:

  • To apply a high level programming language and simulate theoretical models.
  • To collect, synthesise and apply computational techniques for solving problems.
  • To select appropriate techniques and apply these to solve canonical and physiological biomedical modelling problems.
