A bit about yourself…

I’m 20 years old and I grew up in Swindon. I like pancakes and taking photos.

What do you study at King’s?

International Relations

Where did you Study Abroad?

University of Hong Kong

Why did you choose to Study Abroad?

I’d never spent more than three weeks abroad, so going on exchange gave me the opportunity to experience what it’s like to live in another country. I had already visited Hong Kong, and I thought it would be a really interesting place to spend a few months!

Favourite travel destinations on your trip?

Tokyo and Seoul

Lost in translation moment?

In China we were visiting the Great Wall. We unfortunately ran out of money to pay for the cable car back down. The staff were insistent that we pay – in cash only. But they knew we couldn’t and seemed to want us to ask strangers for the money! Thankfully they eventually let us pay for child tickets instead.

What advice do you have to anyone interested in travelling abroad?

Get to know the local students, their recommendations will be really useful when you first arrive.

Where would you like to travel to next?

Somewhere closer to home. Iceland or Russia would be exciting.
