A bit about yourself...
My name is Megan, and I am a third year student originally from Manchester. I love going to the theatre, watching films, and my two cats!
What do you study at King’s?
Where did you Study Abroad?
University of Michigan, USA
Why did you choose to Study Abroad?
I always knew I wanted to study abroad - I have always been a keen traveller but knew I wanted to go a step further and actually experience living in another country and really getting to know it. I love meeting new people, trying new food, and really immersing myself in different cultures. I also knew I wanted to go to the US as a film student due to its prominence in the film industry, and to study my subject with a different perspective.
Favourite travel destinations on your trip?
I got to travel all over the US and Canada at the end of my study, visiting 13 cities - some of the highlights being San Francisco, Portland, New York City, Montreal, and Toronto!
Lost in translation moment?
Americans might speak English, but accents proved a challenge - even asking for water at a restaurant left people looking puzzled!
What advice do you have to anyone interested in travelling abroad?
Do your research! There are so many options available to you - take your time to really figure out the best destination and university for you. It's not necessarily about which is the best school or how many people go there, but about what you personally want to get out of it.
Where would you like to travel to next?
I have never been to East Asia, so I would love to visit somewhere like Japan - I love the food and architecture!
