Festival of Learning and Teaching

King's College London's annual Festival of Learning and Teaching (previously the Learning & Teaching Conference) is back! 

Hosted by King's Academy, the Festival of Learning and Teaching is an annual event to celebrate Education and Learning across King's and share innovation and practice. Content will focus on six themes: 

  • Assessment and Feedback 

  • Inclusive Education 

  • Student Partnership and Co-Creation 

  • Student Transition, Attainment and Outcomes 

  • Sustainable Education 

  • Transforming the Curriculum 

This year's festival will run across four days (13 - 16 June): 

Monday 13 June 2021 - Wednesday 15 June 2022: Online only, via MS Teams 

Thursday 16 June 2022: In-person day only, on the Strand Campus 

We're pleased to announce The keynote speaker for The Festival of Learning and Teaching 2022 is Dr Michelle Morgan! Dr Morgan will speak on Monday 13 June 2022 at the Festival of Learning and Teaching. 

Dr Michelle Morgan is a Student Experience Transitions Specialist across all levels of study and is extensively published in the area. She is currently Dean of Students at the University of East London. Michelle is a Principal Fellow of the HEA, Fellow of the AUA , an elected council member of UKCGE and Student Minds Mental Health Charter Assessor. Michelle has over 50 publications and has presented over 100 national and international conference papers (including 45 keynotes and 30 invited papers).

Further to the opening keynote, student-centred panel and closing plenary panel, a number of sessions will run similtaneously throughout the week in four main formats: Lightning Talks, Scholarship/ Research Presentations, Workshops and Poster presentations (on campus only).

Unlike previous years, this year the festival will not have one theme but instead explore topics across six themes: • Assessment & Feedback • Inclusive Education • Student Partnership and Co-Creation • Student Transition, Attainment and Outcomes • Sustainable Education • Transforming the Curriculum

From Monday 13 - Wednesday 15 June 2022, the festival will run online via MS Teams only and on Thursday 16 June 2022 will run in-person on the Strand Campus only. Throughout the week, a number of sessions will run simultaneously, in three main formats: lightning talks (an hour of three short 5-10 minute presentations with time for Q&A), research/ scholarship presentations and interactive workshops. In addition, to there will be an opening keynote and a student-centred panel before the closing reflections plenary panel on Thursday 16 June. Once the Festival concludes on the Thursday, attendees will have the opportunity to join the 2022 King's Education Awards Ceremony and Reception.

No, only Tuesday and Wednesday's online sessions. You can register for these via Skillsforge by following the links on the Festival Programme. However, please note, registration closes one working day prior to the online activity, at which point Outlook calendar invites with MS Teams links are shared. For Monday's keynote, all registrants are directly emailed the Outlook calendar invites with MS Teams Live Link and for Thursday, there is no pre-booking for sessions - registrants select the session they wish to attend on the day.
