Following the latest UK Government restrictions, we wanted to update you on what this means for those of you staying or due to stay in a King’s residence.
You have the option to DEFER or CANCEL your contract with King’s Residences. If you want to take up either of these options, it is important you let us know by Sunday 17 January 2021.
If you are already staying in a King’s Residence:
You can continue to stay with us and will continue to receive our support. Please be aware that you must follow the latest Government advice which includes avoiding travelling and not moving between different accommodations during this time.
Deferring your arrival date
If you have not yet arrived or returned from your Winter Break, you can defer your arrival date to another time in this Semester and you will not be charged for the period you have not been staying with us.
In order to defer your arrival date, you will need to request an amendment to your contract by 12.00pm on Sunday 17 January 2021. To do this:
- Please log-in to the Accommodation Portal using your King’s ID number and password
- Select the 'Manage My Booking' option to indicate when you wish to return to residences
- Our team will process your request and send you confirmation by email.
If a rent rebate is due to you, this will be reflected on your next invoice.
Cancelling your contract with King's Residences
You have the option to cancel your contract with us for the remainder of the academic year with no further financial liability from your cancellation date and you will not be expected to find a replacement tenant for your room.
If you have already travelled back to a King’s Residence or were staying with us during the winter break and wish to cancel your contract, we will offer you the opportunity to cancel your contract as soon as the UK Government’s travel restrictions are eased.
If you have not yet arrived for Semester 2 and wish to cancel your contract, you will need to submit a cancellation request by 12.00pm on Sunday 17 January 2021. To do this:
- Log-in to the Accommodation Portal using your King’s ID number and password
- Select the 'Cancel' option to be released from your contract
- Our team will process your contract cancellation as per the date requested and send you confirmation by email.
The College will be open and ready to teach our new and returning students with a combination of on-campus teaching and learning with online delivery.
We know that the COVID-19 pandemic is causing uncertainty for everyone and we have shaped our plans so we can be ready to welcome you in Residences. As always, the health and wellbeing of our community and students is our absolute priority. Several changes have been put in place to ensure our residents are safe, secure, and comfortable.
