Applies to the following groups where KCL is your firm choice (whether conditional or unconditional) for a full-time course for the 2022/23 academic year or you have paid the required deposits if you’re a postgraduate.
- New first-year undergraduates
- All postgraduates students
- Care-experienced and estranged students
- Students who are under the age of 18 years old on move-in day (17/09/2022)
Undergraduate Guarantee: The guarantee applies as long as you complete the required steps of the booking process as laid out below before the deadline of 10 June. Please note, completion of the required steps of the booking process might take up to two weeks therefore we advise all students to begin the booking process prior to 27th May in order to qualify for the guarantee.
Postgraduate Guarantee: The guarantee applies as long as you complete the required steps of the booking process as laid out below before the deadline of 31 July.
These documents outline the way in which we provide accommodation for current and prospective students at King’s College London.
Step 1: Register Your Interest
The first step is to register your interest in accommodation. You must hold a Firm offer of study in order to be eligible.
At this point, you will be able to apply for the King’s Affordable Accommodation Scheme, mention any Additional Accommodation Requirements due to a serious medical condition, or declare a recent care leaver status, if you wish to do so.
To register your details you will need to enter your King's College London student ID number as your username and select 'reset password'. This will send a new temporary password to the email address we have on record. If you do not know your ID number, please refer to the offer letter that you have received via email.
Step 2: Receive an Invite
This step is only applicable to undergraduates. If you’re a postgraduate, you can skip straight to Step 3.
Within two weeks of registration you’ll receive an invitation email. The email will contain a date and time from which you can access the accommodation portal to book your room. If you have applied for the King's Affordable Accommodation Scheme (KAAS), you will find out the outcome of your application in your invitation email.
If you’ll be under-18 at the time of arrival, or have a serious medical condition, a member of the team will contact you directly to discuss your accommodation.
Once you can access the portal, you’ll be able to select from a number of criteria, such as budget or room type, and view availability across the residences. You can then pick up the exact room you like. It’s totally up to you.
Step 4: Sign Your Contract & Make Your Pre-Payment
Make sure to read your licence agreement (contract) carefully before signing, as it is legally binding. Once you have accepted it, you will receive a confirmation email with a PDF attachment of your Licence Agreement. Please ensure that you check your spam/junk folder if you do not receive this email.
You can make changes to your booking later if you like, but this can only be done once.
You will now be asked to make a rent pre-payment of £450 in order to secure your room, but this pre-payment will be offset against the first instalment of rent due in October 2022. If you have been approved for the King's Affordable Accommodation Scheme (KAAS), you will not be asked to make this pre-payment.

Students Under 18
If you will be under-18 at the time of booking, but over 18 at the start of your contract, we will require details of your parent / guardian / responsible adult as a co-signatory when your Licence Agreement (contract for your room) is generated.
King’s Residences also accepts bookings from students whose 18th birthday falls after the start of their contract. The properties available for students under the age of 18 at the point of move-in are Great Dover Street Apartments and Stamford Street Apartments. These Residences are owned and managed directly by King’s College London. As you will not yet have reached 18 years of age when your Licence Agreement (contract for your room) will be generated, we require details of your parent / guardian / responsible adult as a co-signatory.
Places in Halls are offered on the understanding that students are self-sufficient and capable of living independently, away from home and looking after themselves in all practical matters.
