- increased cleaning regimes for all shared spaces and equipment
reduced capacities and reconfigured layouts in communal areas
When the accommodation portal reopens on 17th August at 12 noon, you will be able to select your contract start date. Your accommodation has been booked for you to arrive for your start of term on campus in September. We do however understand that some of you may not be able to join us at this time due to health reasons, travel restrictions or visa delays. For those affected by these reasons, you will have the opportunity to amend your contract start date when our portal reopens on 17th August at 12 noon to the following dates.
Your options are:
Keep your original start date of 19th September for those who wish to arrive earlier you will be able to select the Early Arrival Week (14th September – 19th September).
For those unable to arrive in September, you will be able to select the 31st October or 09th January 2021. Students wishing to arrive on those dates will be required to pay a 4-week pre-payment to secure their room.
What Happens next?
For those who request the flexible accommodation start date of 31st October 2020 or 9th January 2021, the 4 weeks pre-payment at your rental rate to secure your accommodation is required. Following receipt of payment, you will then be asked to complete the mandatory Health & Safety Induction and subsequently book your arrival slot.
All students must confirm their decision to us by 24th August 2020. In order to confirm your arrival period, please log-on to the accommodation portal from the 17th August 12pm using your personal credentials and select “Your Arrival”.
Once we have received this information from you, we will communicate with you accordingly.
We do understand that you may be traveling from a country not currently listed as a travel corridor by the UK Government. Students traveling from countries not listed as travel corridors will be required to self-isolate in residences for the first 14 days.
For those commencing their contract in September and are affected, you will be required to arrive at your residence as of the 06th September. This will allow you to complete the self-isolation process before the start of the academic year.
Please note: students who are required to quarantine might be relocated to one of our other residences during this period. Once confirmation is received, we will amend your contract accordingly and ask you to complete the mandatory Health & Safety Induction and subsequently book your arrival slot. Your quarantine location will be confirmed to you once we receive confirmation of your arrival date and time.
Additionally, as our priority is to accommodate students who are required to self-isolate, we may ask for additional information to support your request before confirming the free extension to your contract.
We have plans in place to be able to support you if you need to self-isolate if you:
- have Covid-19 symptoms; or
- are an international student entering UK requiring to quarantine
All students in a King's residence who need to quarantine will be provided with the appropriate support such as assistance with food provision and deliveries brought to flats.
Our Welfare support and Community facilitators will be available online to assist and you will still be able to access our online teaching and services.
Before you arrive in September, you will be invited to join our online community. This will give you the chance to virtually meet some of your new neighbours and flatmates, and to ask any questions you may have.
Updates for September will be posted here so make sure you keep checking this page.
Please keep checking our Q&A pages for the latest information.
We have limited availability in our residences for the 2020/21 academic year. For more information on how to secure your accommodation for September 2020, please visit out How to Book page.
