"Facts and Other Metaphors of Enlightenment Science": a seminar with Tita Chico

Tita Chico is Associate Professor of English at the University of Maryland. She is author of Designing Women: The Dressing Room in Eighteenth-Century English Literature and Culture (2005) and the forthcoming The Experimental Imagination: Literary Knowledge and Science in the British Enlightenment (2018). She is also co-editor of Atlantic Worlds of the Long Eighteenth Century: Seduction and Sentiment (2012) and Editor of The Eighteenth Century: Theory and Interpretation.
This event is free and open to all.

The Centre for Enlightenment Studies (CESK)  invites you to its third annual ‘theory’ day.This year's topic is  ATMOSPHERES, understood both literally as air, climate, pollution, clouds, and more abstractly as atmosphere, mood, stimmung, presence or latency.   Short presentations will include such topics as 'Drone as object and atmosphere'; 'Boredom' and 'What William Blake Might Have Found Within Himself In Seaside Felpham'.To be followed by open discussion.
