Biography

Alessandro is a sociologist who conducts research on the intersection between digital media and work, qualitative digital research methods, digital culture and the collaborative economy. He is a Lecturer in Digital Media Management and Innovation at the Department of Digital Humanities, and teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Milan and has worked on the EU-FP7 funded project “P2Pvalue” at the Centre for Digital Ethnography at the same University, studying commons-based peer production at an international level as part of a team led by Prof. Adam Arvidsson.

He has joined King’s in 2016 after working as lecturer in the Media department at Middlesex University. His first book, The Reputation Economy, on the role of reputation across networks of freelancers in the knowledge economy, is published with Palgrave Macmillan.

Teaching
Alessandro teaches on the BA Digital Culture and across various programmes at MA level in the Department of Digital Humanities. 
Expertise and Public Engagement

Alessandro has presented at various international conferences in the area of sociology, media studies, marketing and management, and has been involved in the Digital Sociology Study Group at the British Sociological Association. He has been active in journalism and writing mainly in Italy, contributing for various outlets including Corriere della Sera – La Nuvola del Lavoro, Wired, cheFare, Doppiozero amongst others.
